This study employed a descriptive-correlational design using structural equation modeling. The statistical population comprised all married men and women residing in Tehran, from which 420 individuals (210 women and 210 men) were selected via convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Adams and Jones Marital Commitment Questionnaire, the Wandenbroeck Couple Intimacy Questionnaire, the Bar-On Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and the Rahim Conflict Resolution Styles Questionnaire, and were analyzed using PLS and bootstrapping methods. The findings indicated that the structural model demonstrated a good fit (SRMR = 0.018, NFI = 0.967). Emotional intelligence had a direct positive effect on emotional intimacy (β = 0.413) and marital commitment (β = 0.306). Constructive conflict resolution styles were positively associated with intimacy (β = 0.265) and commitment (β = 0.140), whereas non-constructive styles were negatively associated with intimacy (β = -0.322) and commitment (β = -0.220). Emotional intimacy emerged as the strongest direct predictor of commitment (β = 0.382). The partial mediating role of intimacy in the relationships between emotional intelligence (β = 0.158 indirect), constructive styles (β = 0.101 indirect), and non-constructive styles (β = -0.123 indirect) with commitment was confirmed. The final model explained 60% of the variance in intimacy and 73% of the variance in commitment. In Iranian society, marital commitment is a deeply emotional bond formed within the context of emotional intimacy, with emotional intelligence and constructive conflict resolution styles serving as the primary contributors to this context. These findings can be applied in the design of couple empowerment interventions.
