Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of the effectiveness of the combined treatment of yoga and mindfulness exercises on reducing depression during pregnancy and after delivery. The current research was of quasi-experimental type with pre-test, post-test and control group. The statistical population of the research was made up of pregnant women in Mashhad in 1403. The sample size was equal to 40 people who were placed in two experimental (20 people) and control (20 people) groups. The data were collected using the postpartum depression scale (Cox et al., 1987) and analyzed by SPSS software (version 26) using the analysis of covariance method. The results of the research showed that there was a significant decrease in depression in the post-test stage in the experimental group compared to the control group (P<0.01). The effect size for this test was 0.474. Therefore, The results of the present study are an important step towards the treatment of depression during pregnancy and after delivery.
