Children's behavioral problems such as aggression can cause serious damage to children's social interactions. The present study was conducted in order to investigate the effectiveness of play therapy based on cognitive behavioral model and behavioral problems and social skills of aggressive primary school children in boys' primary schools in district 16 of Tehran. This research was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test design and a control group. In this research, 30 boys aged 7-11 with aggressive behavior participated, who were selected by available sampling method from elementary schools in the 16th district of Tehran. The subjects were divided into two groups of 15 people, experimental and control. The experimental group received game therapy based on cognitive behavioral model in 12 sessions. While the control group was not given this test. The tools used in this research were Rutter's Behavioral Problems Questionnaire-Parent Form (1975) and Gresham Valiot's Social Skills Rating Scale (1990). Parents completed the Rutter and Melman Behavioral Problems Questionnaire and the Gresham Valiot Social Skills Rating Scale for the subjects in the pre-test and post-test phases. The information obtained from the questionnaire before and after the intervention was analyzed using multivariate covariance analysis and spss software version 23. At first, the assumptions of normality and homogeneity of variance and covariance of the variables were evaluated. Kolmogorov Smirnov test indicated that all variables are normal (p < 0.05). Box test also confirmed the assumption of homogeneity of variance, covariance and covariance; Therefore, the assumptions of the statistical test showed multivariate covariance analysis. Play therapy based on cognitive behavioral model has a significant effect on behavioral problems and social skills of aggressive children (p<0.0001).
