Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and job stress with the mediating role of the black triple. The design of the present study was correlational and structural equation model. The statistical population of the study was all nurses of ICU and psychiatry departments of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (N = 850), which using one-stage cluster sampling method among 12 public hospitals in Tabriz based on Georgian and Morgan table 280 people were selected as the sample size. Data were collected using the Young Schematic Questionnaire (Short Form) (1990), the Johnson et al. (2012) Dark Personality Scale, and the French and Kaplan (2003) Job Stress Scale. Considering the results, the value of the path coefficient obtained for the relationship between the black triple variable with job stress is equal to (0.89) and for the initial maladaptive schema variable with job stress is equal to (0.37) and the value of the significance level obtained for These coefficients are less than some desired error (0.05) and therefore there is a positive and significant relationship between the black triple and the initial maladaptive schema with job stress. Also, due to the fact that the obtained rate is higher than 1.96, the role of the black triple mediator in the relationship between the initial maladaptation scheme and job stress is confirmed.
