Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of predicting the tendency to divorce based on early maladaptive schema domains in married women in Najafabad, Isfahan province. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The research sample consisted of 123 married women who were selected through convenience sampling and voluntarily via an online questionnaire. To collect data, the Young Early Maladaptive Schema Questionnaire and the Rosult et al. Divorce Tendency Questionnaire were used. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. The results showed that among the early maladaptive schema domains, the domain of Impaired Autonomy and Performance has a positive and significant relationship with the tendency to divorce and can predict it in married women. Also, the other early maladaptive schema domains did not have a significant role in predicting the tendency to divorce. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that problems related to autonomy, feelings of incompetence, dependence, and weakness in independent functioning may play a role in increasing the tendency to divorce in women. Therefore, paying attention to autonomy and performance in schema therapy can be effective in reducing the tendency to divorce.
